East and North Hertsfordshire Hospitals' Charity

Slide The client The charity covers a number of Hertfordshire’s Hospitals – Lister Hospital, Hertford County, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and the new QEII. The money raised by the charity funds the very best medical equipment, research, training and facilities for their patients. Slide The brief Our brief was to encourage donations by creating a promotional film that showcased the work the charity carries out. The film was to be premiered at a gala dinner held by the Charity, and subsequently used on social media and in presentations. Slide What we created We created a three-minute promotional film that showed the stories of four people who had been motivated to fundraise for the Charity. They had either received treatment at the Hospitals, volunteered at the charity or worked in one of the Hospitals and used equipment which had been funded through donations and made a huge difference to patients’ lives.

Slide How we worked During this project it was vital to share these stories in a sensitive and authentic manner. To help the participants tell their stories, we turned existing written case studies about them into short (but authentic) scripts.

On the shoots, we recorded just the audio of each participant reading his or her script, and then filmed them carrying out suitable actions. Our deep knowledge and experience of filming with people talking about sensitive subjects really ensured the participants were put at ease and enjoyed the filming process.

We were extremely proud to be involved in a project that increased donations and funded projects that make a patient’s journey easier.
