This week’s Film Term Friday entry is close to Pearldrop director Denise Austin’s heart. Our word this week is “cheeseplate”, and it’s the first of three food-related filmmaking terms we’re going to share with you.
Rather than being a tasty treat for the cast and crew, a cheeseplate is a metal plate with holes drilled across it. It’s used as a multi-purpose bracket that holds camera rigs together, with the holes allowing all kinds of kit to be screwed into the bracket.
Denise reports that she prefers actual cheese to the metal variety.
Bonus trivia: The Pearldrop directors, along with Suzi Clarke from Kit and Caboodle, recently enjoyed several amazing cheeseplates courtesy of Lussmanns; supper club. Thanks, Andrei!
